Leak detection in Port Elizabeth

Thermal imaging, acoustic listening and gas leak detection — so we can pinpoint the leak instead of digging up half your yard to find it.

A leak you can't see is the most expensive kind. It runs quietly under a slab, in a wall or under the paving, and it shows up on your water bill long before it shows up anywhere else.

We use three detection methods and pick the right one for the job: acoustic listening for pipes under pressure, thermal imaging for leaks hidden in walls and floors, and tracer gas for the difficult ones — including pipes running under slabs and paving.

Once we know exactly where it is, we can tell you what the repair involves and what it will cost. No guesswork, no unnecessary excavation.

Warning signs

If you're seeing any of this, get it looked at

Most expensive plumbing problems started as a small one somebody hoped would go away.

  • Your municipal water bill jumped with no change in how you use water
  • A damp or warm patch on the floor that won't dry
  • The smell of damp in a room with no visible cause
  • A water meter that keeps turning with everything off
  • Paving that has sunk or grass that grows greener in one strip
  • Mould or peeling paint on a wall or skirting
How we work

How a leak detection job runs

Same four steps every time, whether it's a stubborn fitting or a full installation.

  1. 01

    Walk the property

We start at the meter and work out how the water is routed, then narrow the search area.

  2. 02

    Test the line

Pressure testing and acoustic listening tell us whether the leak is on the supply line or a drain line.

  3. 03

    Pinpoint it

Thermal imaging or tracer gas narrows it to a spot on the ground, not a general area.

  4. 04

    Quote the repair

You get the location, what the repair involves and the price before we open anything up.

Questions

Leak detection — what people ask

Honest answers, no sales pitch.

Can you find a leak without breaking up my floor?

Yes — that's the point of the equipment. Acoustic and thermal detection narrow a leak down to a small area so we only open what we have to, and often nothing at all until the repair itself.

My water bill is high but I can't see any water. Is that a leak?

Usually yes, but it can also be a faulty meter or a leaking toilet cistern running silently. Close every tap and check whether the meter still turns — if it does, phone us and we'll trace it.

Do you do leak detection for complexes and businesses?

Regularly. Body corporates and commercial buildings call us when a common line is losing water — the sooner it's found, the less it costs on the municipal bill.
